“It is alleged that the five armed suspects entered the victims’ home. The suspects removed the safe from the bedroom wall, and questioned the victims about vehicles they owned. The suspects terrorised the victims and assaulted them," says KZN police spokesperson Alex Thomson.

Thomson says after storming the family's home, the robbers made a dash for the nearest ATM.

A 32-year-old man was taken during Friday’s ordeal.

"All five suspects were arrested and the victim was rescued. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime was recovered and the victims were taken to receive medical treatment."

They suspects are due to appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrate's Court soon on charges of house robbery and kidnapping.
