Ntuli urges residents to band together with police
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
KZN Premier Thami Ntuli has urged residents across the province to work with the police, to rid their communities of crime.

The premier spoke at a thanksgiving ceremony in Nkandla for former Bizimali Secondary School principal Ntandoyakhe Ntuli on Saturday.
He says he's particularly disturbed by violent attacks on the elderly.
He's cited a recent case in Loskop, where an elderly woman was sexually assaulted and strangled to death, allegedly by her 19-year-old grandson.

Ntuli says he's been made aware that similar attacks are happening in Nkandla.
"I have heard that this is also an ongoing issue here in Nkandla. I had a conversation with the police station commander in King Cetshwayo District, who told me that there are people in the area committing crimes such as murder, torture, and rape.
“I am pleading with you not to take this matter lightly because I remember when I was still the Mayor, there was an 82-year-old woman, if I'm not mistaken, who was brutally murdered after being molested near Nkandla town. Therefore, we must address the issue of abuse of mothers and fathers because it is a disgrace."
